Fundamentals of the computer network 1

What is a network?

Most of us imagine the Internet every time we hear this word. In reality, the Internet is just one form of network.

When two or more devices are connected to each other, in general terms we can call it Network. If the devices are computers, we will call it Computer Network.

Why do we do it?

– The main objective of making a computer network is to share data.

– We can share a single device from multiple PCs if the device and PCs run on the same network.

– To share information through email, instant messaging, chat, tele, and videoconference.

– The largest network is the Internet. On the Internet, a server stores and provides us with data and we can upload, download, browse and share data with the Internet.

– Users on the same network can run or share the same application software from multiple PCs.

– Maintain security.

– Accelerate the flow of data.

Types:

Depending on the connection method, computer networks are of two types; one is Wired connection and one is Wireless connection.

Depending on the area coverage, computer networks can be of many types, such as LAN, WAN, MAN, PAN, CAN, VPN, etc.

Depending on the functional relationships, networks can be classified into active networks, client-server and peer-to-peer (workgroup) architecture, etc.

Depending on the topology, a network can be classified into Bus (also known as Backbone Networking), Star, Ring, Mesh, Hybrid (HUB + Bus), Star-Bus, Star-Ring, etc.

What do we need to create it?

  • Two or more PCs.
  • Network cables and devices, for example LAN cards (for wired connection).
  • Wireless network devices, for example, Bluetooth or infrared devices.
