Healthy 10 week meal with a healthy idea for leftovers

Healthy food: Turkey Bacon and Cheese Lettuce Wraps with Fruit Bowl

Healthy leftover idea: Patty melts

Do you want to eat healthy and at the same time enjoy an American classic? The traditional cheeseburger with fries and a soda is sure not going to be particularly healthy for you, however, there is a way to enjoy a serving of this meal without having to sacrifice a lot in terms of flavor.

Even though the food listed below may seem a bit strange to you at first, don’t turn it down until you actually taste it. Like most healthy food alternatives, it just takes the willingness to try something new and you might be quite surprised. By ditching the French fries (fries) and the high calorie / sugar drink (soda), and swapping the 200 calorie bread for a lettuce leaf (practically 0 calories), you will see how a meal that could have been more than 1,800 calories is now just 400. That should make you smile big as you enjoy the tasty flavor of these Turkey Bacon Cheeseburger Lettuce Wraps.

* Remember, drink water or another calorie-free beverage so you don’t add unnecessary extra calories to this meal.

Addresses

1. Place entire package of ground turkey in large mixing bowl. Add 2 tablespoons minced onion, 4 tablespoons A1 sauce, and a few pinches of seasoned salt, pepper, and garlic powder. With clean hands mix everything well.

two. Once the meat is mixed, form turkey patties. Use your hands to make flat circular discs about 5 inches in diameter. They will shrink about an inch after cooking.

3. Use non-stick spray or a light coating of oil on the skillet, put on medium heat and place the turkey burgers. Use a spatula and carefully flip the patties every 4-5 minutes.

Four. When the burgers are browned on both sides, looking almost done, you can add cheese on top if you like. If you are unsure, use a knife to slice open the center of a patty to inspect the color. Note that once you add the cheese, you will no longer be able to flip the burgers, so make sure that before adding cheese, the turkey burgers are almost done cooking.

5. For the turkey bacon, you can choose to cook the traditional way in a skillet, turning the pieces with tongs every few minutes until cooked to your liking. Another way is to place a paper towel on a microwave-safe plate, place the turkey bacon pieces side by side, and then cover with another paper towel. Cook in the microwave for two minutes, then flip the pieces over, retrieve and place for another two minutes. You may need to repeat depending on how many pieces you put in and how well done you prefer the bacon. If you need more time, reduce to just one minute and check later before repeating.

6. Carefully peel large lettuce leaves, wash gently, and pat dry with a clean paper towel. Place inside a cheese turkey burger with 2 strips of turkey bacon. You can add mustard and a little ketchup or mayonnaise if you like, but be careful not to use too much. Wrap the lettuce to close as well as possible. You may want to use two pieces of lettuce so that the turkey bacon cheeseburger is fully wrapped.

7. Finally, slice / chop the fruits of your liking and place in a serving bowl alongside your healthy turkey bacon cheeseburger lettuce wrap.

Leftover food idea: You can choose to take one of these wonderful lettuce-wrapped turkey burgers to work for the next day, however, try to keep the lettuce separate from everything until you’re ready to eat. Packing separately or with a dry paper towel wrapped around the lettuce will do the trick.

If you want something a little different, you can choose to make Patty Melts. Like you make a grilled cheese sandwich, lightly grease two pieces of whole wheat bread, place one piece of bread butter side down in a skillet (medium heat). Then place one of the leftover cooked turkey cheeseburgers on top along with a piece of lettuce and / or tomato and finally the second piece of bread, but this time with the butter side up. Use a spatula to flip the melted patty every 4-5 minutes until each side is golden brown. Cut it in half and store in a plastic travel container to enjoy for lunch the next day.
