Temperament: This is a charming and affectionate dog that is very alert, lively and very confident. The Lakeland Terrier is particularly good with children. This dog needs firmness and training, the owner being a good leader. This dog is a very keen digger and can be prone to obsessive barking if not handled well and trained to break the habit.
The dog can be quite easily potty trained with the only problem being taking his time in potty training. Since this is a brilliant dog, the training needs variety to challenge the dog. This dog will get along well with other dogs, but needs to be socialized, at an early age, with cats and other household pets.
This breed needs a strong leader or problems like taking care of toys and food, becoming dog aggressive and obsessive barking can arise. With good leadership, this will not happen, along with daily walks and training. This can be an excellent dog.
Health Issues: The Lakeland Terrier is generally in good health. This breed usually doesn’t have any problems to speak of, but make sure you find a quality breeder and stay away from online breeding when possible. Your Lakeland Terrier should be up to date on all vaccinations, deworming, and heartworm prevention.
Grooming: This breed needs to have its coat stripped two to three times a year; this is usually done by hand to remove loose hairs. This breed sheds little.
Living Conditions: Although the Lakeland Terrier requires daily walks, it is suitable for apartment living.
