Benefits of snakes in our daily life

In countries like India, snakes are worshiped as gods. Many countries have understood the benefits of snakes for the environment. For example, in nations where grain is harvested, certain snakes such as the rat snake are released on farms to control rodents and rats that cause destruction. It should also be noted that not all snakes eat only rats, but some also eat birds, snails, eggs, frogs, toads, lizards, and one of the farmer’s main enemies – the grasshopper. According to surveys conducted by biologists, a healthy number of snakes in an environment is important for a balanced ecosystem. For example, a toad or a frog will eat an insect capable of destroying the grain, the frog will be eaten by a rat and the rat, in turn, by a cobra.

Although snakes are often considered dangerous and very likely to die when seen, they control the rodent and rat population. They also control diseases transmitted by the bodies of rats and rodents. Diseases are transmitted through rodent bite wounds, contamination of drinking water by mouse feces and urine, transmission of ticks, mites and fleas to livestock from rodents.

Venom from poisonous snakes is helpful in treating many diseases like cancer, Parkinson’s, breast cancer, etc. Recently, a snake venom pain relief cream is being tested for arthritic pain. The venom is also used to prepare anti-venom medications against the venomous bite of vipers and other deadly snakes. The study or experiments of snake venom have not reached their full potential and doctors are completely confident that they can treat many more complicated diseases.

Snakes can also link us to humanitarian aspects, their need for survival: killing to eat only when necessary and ultimately defending themselves. But man has tried to restructure nature and not being part of it.

Popularly called ectotherms, they cannot survive everywhere by regulating their body temperature. They can easily move into holes where mice, rodents, and rats live than other creatures as prey.

Another advantage of snakes is that they very rarely suffer from nutritional deficiency since they always consume their prey (they are all carnivores, even small snakes eat large insects), with all the bones inside. An anaconda can swallow a deer whole and feeds only four times a year. In recent times, snakes are being taken as pets.
