Penis Problems – Adult Wet Dreams

Hopefully, most men will experience few (perhaps none) penile problems of any consequence during their lives. Defining “penis problems”, of course, depends on the individual. Certainly anything that directly and negatively impacts penile health is one, but there are a few more, relatively minor issues that some men might classify as penile problems and others might not. In this second category could be included the theme of adult wet dreams. Read on for more information.

Adult?

Many men reading that last paragraph may be stumped, thinking that wet dreams are strictly a teenage preoccupation left behind in high school, along with geometry homework and required assemblies. But while it’s true that wet dreams are much, much more common during puberty, the fact remains that a man can have wet dreams at any point in his post-pubertal life. Not only are adult wet dreams possible, but they’re also something most men experience, at least once or twice.

Return to basic

Wet dreams, known medically as nocturnal emissions and also sleep orgasms, are a normal part of becoming a man, and a woman as well. (Yes, women can have wet dreams too.) During puberty, as the body changes from a child to an adult, it is overloaded with hormones. Some of these hormones help the penis grow and test begin to produce sperm, preparing the man for his next sexual experiences.

During this period, boys have erotic dreams that sometimes, due to the pumping of hormones throughout the body, cause ejaculation from the penis while they sleep. Most children experience this, albeit to varying degrees, over a period of time. Eventually, things balance out hormone-wise, and a man stops having them as often as he does during part of puberty.

So why in adulthood?

However, just because a guy stops having frequent wet dreams doesn’t necessarily mean he’s done with them forever. Many men report having an occasional wet dream in their 20s and 30s; some report having them well into middle age. But since the body has long since finished puberty, why do the emissions continue?

In general, there are 2 reasons why a man may have wet dreams in adulthood.

One, you are essentially masturbating in your sleep. However, that doesn’t mean wrapping your hand around his penis and stroking it; more generally it means that he can lie on his stomach while sleeping. Men often have several spontaneous erections while they sleep. If one occurs while he is face down in this position, he may experience an erotic dream and unconsciously rub his penis against the mattress in such a way as to cause emission.

The other reason is that the wet dream is your body’s way of telling you that it’s been too long since you ejaculated. The penis needs to be “exercised” regularly, and that includes ejaculation. Going for a long period of time not only increases the amount of semen stored in the balls (though only up to a point), it also makes the penis think it needs to get rid of that semen both to have more “room” in the balls and to stay in good ejaculatory shape – use it or lose it, so to speak.

So there is nothing wrong with an adult having occasional wet dreams. If it bothers him, he can try masturbating more often and/or sleeping on his back. If they occur regularly and concern you, you should see a doctor.

Adult wet dreams are among the minor penis problems, many of which can be alleviated with the use of a premium penis health oil. (health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil which is clinically proven to be gentle and safe for the skin). Oils that contain vitamin A are valuable, as the antibacterial properties of that vitamin can help combat lingering penis odor. If the oil also contains vitamin D, all the better, as vitamin D has proven benefits in fighting disease and supporting healthy cell function.
