Techniques to solve problems of water leaks in your establishment

Damage from water leaks can be worse than we think. If immediate action is not taken, water leaks can damage the foundation of your premises and cause major losses. Water leaks are a common plumbing problem. However, households find it difficult to inspect and detect leaks. It all comes down to locating the leak point. Sometimes leaks are hidden and cannot be detected without the proper equipment and skills. If you are facing low water pressure in your home, you should go ahead and try to resolve the issue. Here is what you can do to find a possible water leak:

Check your water bill

The first thing you can do is see if there is an unusual increase in your water bills. Check your water meter if there is an unexpected fluctuation in water usage at your facility. Make sure all taps and showers are turned off and that no water is being consumed in your home. The next step is to check the water meter to see if it is moving or not. If the water meter is still, there is nothing to worry about. If it’s moving, there’s something wrong.

Determine the vanishing point

A water leak can occur inside or outside your home. To find this, turn off the main water valve which is usually located in the basement or garage. Once the main water valve is closed, check the water meter again to see if it is still moving. The leak is most likely outside your building if the matter is moving. If the meter is still, the leak could be inside your home.

look for signs

Water stains and mold on the ceiling, walls, and floors make a water leak more obvious. Cabinets under sinks should also be inspected for discolored areas. Water hoses connected to washing machines are also a common area for leaks. Water leaks also create an odor that is a sign of a broken pipe in the wall or ceiling.

There are a series of accessories: water tank, discharge valve, sinks, pipe network, faucets, etc. which forms a plumbing system. An ideal approach is to regularly inspect all accessible accessories to see if all is well. Old and corroded fixtures are asking for trouble.
Once you are sure there is a water leak on your property, immediately consult a licensed plumbing company to fix the problem. A thorough plumbing inspection is recommended after 6 months or once a year to make sure there are no signs of problems.
