The main attractions of Las Vegas

Imagine a place where you can visit Paris, New York and Italy, all on the same street. Las Vegas is that place, and there’s so much to see and do in “Sin City,” it’s impossible to do it all in one visit. If you’re headed to Las Vegas, you’ll need to make a list of “must see” attractions. Here are some of the top Las Vegas attractions you might want to include on that list.

Bellagio

Whether it’s the grandeur of the interior of this remarkable resort, the beauty of the musical water feature on the adjacent lake, or the opportunity to shop at stores that rival the best in Paris, Bellagio is one of Las Vegas’ top attractions. Inside Bellagio, you can ride a gondola through a recreated Venice mall, where unique shops and art boutiques await. You can also dine at five-star restaurants like Jasmine and Circo, or watch the amazing acrobatics of “O” Cirque du Soleil performers. Of course, the resort also has a casino.

Mirage

Mirage is another resort casino that is known the world over for one of its outdoor attractions. Every night from 8am to midnight, the Mirage volcano erupts in a lavish display of fire and water. Inside the Mirage you can experience the relaxation of walking through a beautiful rainforest garden, complete with waterfalls and a 90-foot-high atrium ceiling. The front desk houses a 20,000-gallon saltwater aquarium, and Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat is also located in the complex. This oasis is home to bobcats and bottlenose dolphins. Shopping, dining and gambling abound in Mirage as well.

freemont street

In downtown Las Vegas you will find Freemont Street, one of the most popular night attractions. This street, which is open to pedestrian traffic only, is covered with a 90-foot-tall canopy. This provides a much-needed respite from the desert sun during the day, when you can see street musicians and performers along this walkway. However, it is the nightly light show on the canopy that is the biggest draw. Known as the Freemont Street Experience, this free exhibit is something you really must see to appreciate.

Shows, shows and more shows

While the shows in Las Vegas change from time to time, making listing the “most popular” ones sometimes difficult, it’s the shows that draw many to this city. From world-class singers to incredible magicians and impossible stunts, if it can be done, it can be seen in Las Vegas.

Singers like Cher, Elton John and Bette Midler regularly appear on the Las Vegas stage. Cirque du Soleil has several shows in town, including a sultry “adults only” show. Blue Man Group is one of the most popular of all shows. If you can get tickets, try seeing The Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian, even if you’ve already seen the musical. Many critics claim that this is the best version of Phantom ever made and that the stage was built specifically for the show.

With all the shows the city has to offer, you could literally spend your entire trip watching one after another, but get your tickets early. If you’re trying to watch a popular show, they’ll sell out quickly.
