Is it possible to make money using videos to sell your own product or hire sales people to sell it for you? If it is. YouTube is absolute proof of that. Lots of great YouTube video promos and promoters from guitar and piano lessons, anything and everything you can think of. In previous articles, I mentioned the Blendit videos where the guys who combine the iPhone use YouTube to market through videos. Mentos, that candy, did you ever see those two guys in lab coats where they were taking Mentos and they put them in Coke and it creates a pressurized explosion and the Coke is thrown like 10 feet into the air?
Go to YouTube and write Mentos and this went viral on YouTube. Heard somewhere and don’t quote me, I think sales of Mentos candy, due to the viral nature of everyone buying these Mentos to blow up these 2-liter Coke bottles, increased by 20%.
Absolutely, video is very powerful to sell, but you need a medium where people’s eyes have to be on that video. Video versus audio, if you had 100% attention from someone watching a video or demonstrating a product or just listening to an audio, the video will win hands down.
But audio has many other ways and opportunities to penetrate the potential customer’s mind, from the CD to listening while exercising, cleaning the house. You can multitask and listen to audio. You can’t do that with video. You can’t or shouldn’t watch videos in your car. So, use videos to help sell and spread the word, but don’t forget about the power of your audios.
