Eurogames wants to offer a high quality sporting event to the gay and lesbian sports community and fight against discrimination in sport due to sexual preferences. This incredible event will involve some 30,000 people and will make Barcelona the European capital of sport and homosexual culture. It will consist of 28 sporting events along with a wide cultural and leisure offer in the city and its surroundings.
One of the most ambitious goals of these EuroGames is to motivate lesbian women to participate in the competition to achieve a fair representation of male and female participants.
The EuroGames Opening Ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 24 at 9:00 p.m. in the Palau Sant Jordi, the Olympic Pavilion. It will be a ceremony of light, music and emotions to give a great welcome to the 5000 athletes who will be part of the 12th. edition of the EuroGames. Àngel Llaser (famous presenter of Spanish Television), the Gospel Barcelona Choir, Gema Castaño and the finalist of the 08 Edition of OT (Spanish version of Star Academy) will be part of this spectacular opening show. It is a ceremony open to all!
There are 28 sports disciplines, Olympic facilities to enjoy the competition, a secondary base at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a lot of extra activities for accompanying athletes. Some of the sports are aerobics, badminton, ballroom dancing, basketball, volleyball, bowling, cycling, soccer. Handball, hockey, running, squash, swimming, water polo and much more!
The closing ceremony will take place in Plaça dels Àngels. An act that will want to be a complaint against those situations of vulnerability of human rights suffered by many LGTB people.
There will be two special parties for these Eurogames: on Saturday night the 26th the Great Party of the EuroGames will be held in the Forum Park with two spaces with different music. The other will be the Woman Party, with the best DJs of the moment and only for women at Poble Espanyol.
