Fear of constipation and how to overcome it

Coprastasophobia is the medical term for what is commonly called the fear of constipation. It is when a person fears that he will become constipated. In many people this fear tends to settle when they are constantly constipated. They begin to think that certain foods or a combination of foods cause constipation. They also feel uncomfortable if they don’t go to the bathroom at least twice a day. So actually, the fear of constipation is rooted in constipation itself.

There are ways in which you can overcome coprastasophobia. One of the easiest ways is through hypnosis. There are a number of hypnosis tapes you can buy that take you into deep hypnosis and remove the trigger that triggers coprastasophobia. The best thing about these tapes is that it requires no effort on your part. You can play and listen to them.

Another way to overcome coprastasophobia is through the use of deliberate behavior. This will require you to consciously choose to eat and drink constipating foods, but this time you should not think about being constipated. You should rather eat something that will relieve your constipation. Most people are constipated because they don’t drink enough water. So remember to drink lots of water.

Being physically aware of your body’s limitations is one thing, but a full-blown phobia is another. It’s okay if you avoid certain foods because they make you constipated, but your assumption must be rooted in medical fact. Visit a doctor and ask him about your constipation, ask him what foods you should eat and what not. Once you get a professional opinion, you should feel much better and it would also help you overcome your phobia.
