Hereos of Newerth – The Forsaken Archer

Forsaken Archer 3v3 Guide

The Renegade Archer is a flexible hero who can play the role of both a carry and an attacker. At the moment, the Renegade Archer is my favorite hero. He can deal heavy single-target damage with a root and shoot combo, can decimate entire teams with a well-placed ult, and can escape many dire situations with his high root and run speed. Please note that this guide is intended for games that are 3v3 or less.

starting items

I’ve always been one to buy a healing potion or plague runes. With Forsaken Archer I’ve skipped those lately and gone straight to Ghost Marchers. This choice can pay off or hurt you later in the game. If you know you’re up against a melee hero, you can always get away with it. If you’re up against a ranged hero, you might consider buying healing items instead of ghost marches. You can buy a bottle and a winged messenger at the beginning of the game. This allows you to heal and spam your root ability throughout the game.

early lane

The first levels are the weakest. The Renegade Archer doesn’t hit hard and you don’t have Skeletal minions. Be cautious. When you are level two with 2 points in your root and 2 points in skeleton minions, you become a serious threat. Start hitting the enemy hero now. Don’t chase him at all. Just shoot him when he gets close. When the enemy hero is around 75% health, hit them with your root ability and attack. If you have 4 skeletons helping you, it’s a guaranteed kill. This is the tactic you use to kill enemy heroes.

half of the game

My first item I buy after the ghost marches is the thunder claw. Thunderclaw increases your damage and has a chance to cast chain lightning. This will increase the rate at which you earn gold. Next, you want to buy any of the life steal items. The next item to buy is Slash. This makes you hit harder and increases the speed at which you shoot arrows. After purchasing Slash, you want to upgrade him to Geomancer’s Bane. It’s a minor damage buff as a raw stat, but when you activate the item, it spawns 2 illusions of yourself that deal damage. It also increases your movement speed.

late game

Most games don’t go that far. With just the items listed above, you should be able to master the game. On the rare occasions when the game lasts that long, buy a wingbow or a shed breaker. These 2 items will increase your killing power!

You can turn the tide of teamfights with a well-placed root and ult combo. If you manage to get your ultimate to hit at least 2 of the opposing team, your ultimate will take them both below half. If you hit their entire team with the combo, they will all be below half health and easy to clean up with the rest of your team.
