Hotel Review: Radisson Blu Hotel and Resort, Baden Baden – Gateway to the Black Forest, Germany

During the previous summer holidays, we had a short weekend break in Baden Baden, a German city located on the edge of the Black Forest. Since Baden Baden is famous for its spa and spring water, we deliberately look for hotels that have a hot spring. Radisson Blu Hotel was one of the few hotels that actually has a spring pool in Baden Baden. We stayed there for 4 days and had a great and relaxing time.

We drove from the Netherlands to Baden Baden with a GPS so it was quite easy to find the hotel.

We understood from the hotel’s website that it is located near the city center, but actually it was almost in the city center!

As you exit the main entrance and turn right, you are at the entrance of the main shopping street and restaurant area in less than 200 meters. If you turn left from the main entrance there are several restaurants located within a 5 minute walk. Getting to the tourist spots is also easy, approximately a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel.

Overall, we loved the location of the complex.

Room quality and price (Level of satisfaction 7 out of 10)

We stayed in a standard room with an early bird price (which was around 110 EUR). The hotel lobby is grand with magnificent marble stairs connecting the main atrium to the floors. However, the interior decoration of our room is quite old, for example you can clearly see that the hanging lamp is from the 70’s. The only renovated part is the bathroom, where you can find modern facilities.

Since we didn’t always stay inside the room, we were very happy, considering the price.

resort services (Satisfaction level 9 out of 10)

From our arrival at the car park to storing keys at reception when we visit the spa center, all the staff are very friendly and helpful. We arrived at 11am where our room was not ready yet, then we were shown to a lounge where we can store our languages and went straight to the spa center to use the facilities there.

swimming pools and Spa Center

We were very satisfied with the spa center and the pools. There are 3 pools in total, where 1 is a room temperature indoor pool, while the other 2 are connected pools, part indoor and part outdoor. The outer part is with thermal water coming directly from the natural thermal waters of Baden Baden, equipped with a hydromassage Jacuzzi.

The spa center has several treatment rooms and saunas where you can go in and relax. You can also have spa and beauty treatments there, but we went to another spa center outside the hotel for a cheaper price.

Towels and sheets for sunbeds are always available which is nice and handy as you don’t have to carry towels from your own room.

Restaurant

Our hotel rate included breakfast, which offered a wide variety of options, including local German delicacies. We had nothing but breakfast from the hotel restaurant as there are many other restaurants in town.

Parking lot

As we were driving, we used the hotel’s car park during our visit, which costs €13 per day, a very reasonable price in Europe.

general (Satisfaction level 8 out of 10)

After our vacation, we were absolutely relaxed, from the daily spa, swimming, and good food in town. If you are looking for a decent spa hotel in Germany, while still being able to explore an old spa town, this is a good option.

I would recommend this hotel to couples looking for a long weekend in an old town like Baden Baden.

I hope the information can help you find the right hotel in Baden Baden, Germany and have a nice vacation in the Black Forest.
