Simple Potty Training Tips for Dogs

When the dog you love and love so much messes up the house, you tend to get upset and can be hard on the poor dog. But is it really the dog’s fault? That’s how they are until you train them to behave the way you want them to. In this article, I will share with you simple tips for potty training your dog.

To be honest, potty training a dog can be a chore, but once it’s done, you won’t be faced with the stress of cleaning your house because your dog has messed it up!

To start with, you need to set times for your dog. When I refer to times, I mean set times when your dog will realize it’s potty time. It is highly recommended to potty train him every time he wakes up, after he has eaten or just before the dog goes to sleep. Research has shown that these periods are the right time for dogs to like to relax! To do this, you must set a certain time to feed him so that it coincides with bath time.

Also, dogs are very sensitive animals and are very appreciative of gestures or compensation. They will want to repeat what they did to deserve the gesture or compensation. In other words, if your dog goes to the bathroom after eating, before bed, or right after waking up without your telling him to, make up for it. In this way the dog has realized what he has to do and will continue to do it. You just saved yourself from stress!

Third, familiarize your dog with certain cues for certain tasks. You can think of several. A cue to urinate should be different than when it’s time to eat and it should be different when it’s time to defecate. You know. With this, your dog will know what he means at the flick of a whistle finger.

Finally and most importantly, you should always take your dog to the place to urinate, defecate and so on. Doing this is actually building a sense of consistency in them. When they’ve mastered this technique, they’ll go there themselves when it’s time to do their thing (even though the bathroom is open!)

As you can see, potty training your dog is not such a difficult task, if you can be disciplined and train the dog to a puppy level, you will enjoy your dog until… If you can do this then you are all set .
