Teddy’s Strange Trouble – Short Story

Little Sammy rushed through his homework so he could play with his toys. Teddy was her favorite, and her car, hat, toolbox, Rubik’s cube, and spinning top. When Teddy wanted to go to work, he would take the toolbox, wear his hat, sit in the car with the lid and Rubik’s cube in the toy box on a car seat and drive to where he was going. . He would carefully select where he would sit all day and work on the client’s shoes. When there was no work, he turned and turned the Rubik’s cube until all the multi-colored squares were neatly arranged and all the squares on each face were the same color. He was often delighted to get it right. “Wow!” He screamed with excitement. The lid was also a lovely toy.

He often filmed the top while spinning several times without stopping for a long time and watching the replay. He was very proud of his skill in everything he did. But Teddy faced a strange problem.

He couldn’t smile, due to the fact that his face was fixed and his expression unchanging. A really weird problem for a toy, so Teddy said to Sammy one day, “I’m tired of looking in one direction all the time. I want to express myself too. When I feel happy, I want to be able to smile and show my teeth.” he said.

“That’s easy,” Sammy said and took a pencil and scored a smile, even a grimace, but Teddy was sad. “You have ruined my face!” he yelled as he looked at himself in the mirror.

“What do you want me to do then? Let me think. Use pieces of chalk for teeth?”

“No, that’s worse. They won’t look fancy the way I want them to,” Teddy replied.

“Maybe glue white pieces of paper as teeth?”

“I would like a sticker that is ready to use. No glue, no mess. How’s that?” “Sure,” Sammy said and took out a sticker with a bright smile and pasted it on his face.

“Interesting! Now you look much happier than before. The wrinkles have also disappeared. Smiling makes you look younger!” Sammy said.

“You’re right,” Teddy said admiring her new look. “I’m looking my best with my bright white teeth and sparkle in my eyes.”

So Teddy looked cheerful at all times. When he was bored, he still seemed happy. He wanted to ask Sammy for more toys in his box. The Rubik’s cube had worn out and the tip had broken. I’ll ask him later, he thought.

At work that day, he had more clients than usual. The little children smiled at him as he passed. The squirrels also saw him work. He was surprised when a cow visited his barn for the first time. “Hello cow,” he said. “Would you like your helmets repaired?” He burped, which meant “NO!” and he left.

He looked so happy: the birds came singing and sat close to him while he gave them little nuts to chew on. “I prefer sandwiches,” said the little ant. “Take this chocolate instead.”

Everyone seemed to like her new face. But Teddy found it difficult to sit in one place mending all the shoes and waiting for customers to pick them up. He soon felt tired but seemed energetic. More customers passed by smiling. I had a lot of work; he couldn’t finish them all and he couldn’t scold them either. Now he had a new problem.

So he approached Sammy and said, “I love this beatific smile that is catching my attention. Well, you see, life for me is not a bed of roses. There are times when I feel tired or sad or just overworked. ” But my smiling face confuses everyone. They can’t see anything but my happy face, happy to have more work! I feel drained from all the work that I am forced to do because people think I am exuberant. “

“So what do you want? Do you want to change your expression? What do you think will work for you?”

“I don’t know. But this smile should go away. I feel like a sad expression would be better. Well, no one would want to burden a sad person with a lot of work,” he genuinely smiled in a long time.

“You’ll have that,” Sammy said as he leaned over to remove the sticker.

“Impressive,” Teddy rejoiced, but returned to his serious, expressionless face. “Make me look really sad, even grumpy. I want to look monstrous. Everyone should feel fear approaching me.”

“You will feel very lonely Teddy,” he said fondly. But Teddy wanted to look terribly sad. “Add some horns too and red black eyes full of anger and hatred,” he said evoking a reckless personality.

“I’m sticking this sticker on your face. It’s made the way you want it.” “Exactly what I had in mind!” So Sammy pasted it on and it looked perfect for the day.

“I’m not sure,” Sammy muttered under his breath, because Teddy’s new appearance also struck terror in his heart.

“Let’s start the day,” Teddy said. He looked so wicked that Sammy didn’t greet him as he walked away.

When Teddy got out of the car, there was a lot of commotion. People were running in different directions, even stepping on each other. Soon the streets were empty and no one was to be seen in the distance.

“Well this is what I call perfect peace.” He opened his toy box, there was no work to do. He smiled at the top whose point he had set and was now spinning smoothly.

There was no sound, as if everyone had gone on vacation. “I am pleased to be here alone, without roosters crowing, cows belching or smiling ants.” So he sat silently watching the wind blowing some leaves here and there from time to time. No work to do was also difficult. How long could one remain inactive? “I’m bored and there’s no one to talk to,” he groaned.

I couldn’t wait to get home. He knew the decal was out of place. He had gone too far. A world without friends is worse than one in which there is a lot of work but also a lot of care.

Sammy was delighted to get rid of the sticker. He ripped it in half to make sure Teddy couldn’t use it again. “What if he changes his mind? I don’t know what happened to him. How could anyone choose to be evil? That’s absolutely flawed,” he was glad to have an example of it.

Teddy was happy to look normal again. “I’ve tried to be happy and terribly sad. But it seems they both failed in their own way,” Teddy said sadly. “I can’t think of how I want to look right now … Sammy, can you help me?”

“When I feel happy, I smile because it is a reflection of how I feel in my heart. I usually do not smile when I feel sad. So all my feelings start in my heart and spread to all other parts of my body. except I can feel it anyway.

It is also the same in your case, the only difference is that you cannot show it to anyone else. But you can still say what you feel. You can let others know how you feel with your words. You can make them smile or cry with your words. It’s just that you have to speak more so that others know with your words rather than your outward expressions, “said Sammy.

He continued, “And sometimes it’s better not to show how you feel. Maybe it’s better to think about how you feel, because feelings change over time and you may not feel as angry when you calm down.”

Teddy nodded. “I think you are right. It is not how you look, but what you think that matters. If you have happy thoughts, you will be happy and you can also become sad if you have sad thoughts.”

Teddy continued, “I think I’m happy to stay the way I am and just work on my inner life, the place where I observe and learn about life. I think it’s interesting to live inside myself!” He laughed so hard that all the toys turned to look. “Tell us what makes you so happy?” they came asking.

“Nothing. It’s just life,” and he smiled inside.

Bottom Line: When faced with a problem, look into your heart. Usually, you will find the solution right there, within your heart.
