Temecula Wine Tasting

What kind of wine goes well with a big juicy red steak? We all know that red wine is often considered the best candidate. When looking to choose the best red for your next meal, visiting a wine tasting will certainly help you narrow down your options. In the city of Temecula, California, Californians and vacationers from across the country practice different types of wine to “develop the flavor.” In particular, Temecula is truly known for its antique shops, jazz festivals, and of course its wine festivals and tastings.

Old Town Temecula showcases its wine tasting locally through its popular Temecula Valley vineyard. Built in 1968, winemakers Vincenzo and Audry Cilurzo decided to convert their establishment into a modern commercial vineyard dedicated to the export and cultivation of wine. Although it has gained recognition over the last fifty years, a minimum of twenty-five different vineyards have opened since its popular start in 1968. It currently ranks second to the much higher producing competitor Napa Valley AVA in Northern California and the Santa Ynez Valley AVA (made famous in the Academy Award-winning film Sideways).

As recently as 2007, 18 of the 58 Temecula wines were selected to represent South California. Wine enthusiasts and wine viewers judged the five main wine categories: Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Sangiovese, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon and other blends from the aforementioned list. With this in mind, you can confidently say that Temecula is best known for its wineries because they really are everywhere. In fact, there is an excellent opportunity for you to visit several other towns in Temecula for a more distinctive wine-tasting feel. You can look forward to details of this in another report focusing on the different places where wine tasting is also a spectacular way to spend a lovely weekend and meet the locals who shop, play golf and drink there.

Since I’ve already implanted an idea for you in case you haven’t checked them out yourself; some upcoming festivals are just around the corner and usually include wine tastings as well. In April and May, Cougar Winery and Miramonte Winery host daily wine tasting events in preparation for the Temecula Wine and Music Festival. The events are always joined by wine enthusiasts and speakers from all the different states who support the Temeculano tradition. One of California’s largest music and wine festivals brings together more than fifteen different artists from the pop, jazz and R&B genres. Participating Temecula wineries are Callaway, Francis Coppola, La Cereza, Stuart Cellars, Maurice Carrie, WC, Keyways, Yellow Tail, Wiens Family Cellars, The Briar Rose Winery and Temecula Valley and Resort. So set your calendar and be sure to dress comfortably and put on your wine tasting cap and relax in a relaxing environment where wine meets man in one of the county’s most popular wine regions, Temecula, California.
