The purpose and benefits of school entrance exams

Purchasing for a formal education has become an integral part of our existence long before the establishment of colleges and universities. Based on archaeological finds, evidence of early forms of schooling was observed among artifacts such as clay tablets with carved symbols, carvings on cave walls, and others.

Today, educational institutions compete head-to-head in terms of setting excellent educational standards aimed at admitting only the best students and producing the highest quality graduates. In order to achieve such objectives, school boards and administrations have implemented control measures to ensure that only students who qualify or pass certain categories are admitted to the school of which entrance examinations are one of the control measures applied.

Are entrance exams just to judge a student’s abilities? It is the prerogative of an educational institution to establish standards that will assess a student’s general ability through an entrance examination and to admit or deny his application for school admission in accordance with existing laws established by the Department of Education. However, some schools do not have any entrance examination as long as the student meets the basic requirements for the next level of education. However, the denial of any request must be based on existing policies and requirements and not because of any other unfair issue.

For what purpose do applicants take the entrance exams? The entrance exams are beneficial not only for the school itself, but also for the students and the applicants to enroll. Such control measures are established by the school administration to filter the students among the best and only the best are admitted to the school, as there are schools that aim for excellence where the intellectual capacity of a student has more weight than financial capacity. Doing so assures management that high standards are being maintained. Furthermore, producing students or graduates of the highest quality gives the school unquestioned prestige and honor in the absence of controversies that fuel doubt and call into question the reputation of the school. Additionally, schools that maintain the highest standards pride themselves on having the best students and graduates overall, making the school synonymous with excellence or intelligence.

Students who passed said exams and were eventually admitted to said schools have a clear sense of accomplishment and pride in them called “bragging rights” which gives them an advantage over other students from other institutions. In addition, being in intelligent company is a good motivational and stimulating tool for a person to strive and improve for the better and not to mention learning from various points of view.

In fact, choosing a reputable school that offers a good quality of education and being a graduate of it is a positive factor in your job search. Whether we deny it or not, there are large companies that prefer graduates of reputable schools to them, the name of the school itself is already a guarantee of a high-quality employee.
