What is the true essence of dance?

In general, dance is considered a type of art in which it involves movements of the body along with the rhythm of the music. The type of movements will only depend on the type of dance, of course. Well, there have been different types of dance that are constantly performed by many people around the world and that can also vary across cultures. In the Philippines, they have the so-called “folk dance” which has been constantly performed in events related to their traditions as Filipinos. Furthermore, Africans are used to performing interpretive dances in which they express the life of their community rather than the life of a single individual. Another perfect example of this is the ballet that originated in Italy and later developed in Russia and France. Today it has been taught in many ballet schools around the world, but skill is absolutely required to maintain mastery. A professional ballet teacher must have excellent knowledge in this regard, since it involves techniques and strategies to perform it perfectly. In fact, ballet is the foundation of dance.

Do you know what’s new? Today, many young people perform new types of dance and are very passionate about it. Includes hip hop dance, modern dance, pop dance, break dance, belly dance, ballroom dance, tango, etc. I think that every person has a deep reason why they dance; some may consider it as a spiritual or emotional expression, some express themselves or are happy or sad because it is really true that dance is the hidden language of their soul. It can be one of the best ways to express what you really feel, your desires, and sometimes tell a story. I consider dance as a form of non-verbal communication with others in which you cannot tell them verbally. The true essence of this is really EXPRESSION and your EMOTION. I must say that all people can dance in different ways.

If you do not know how to do certain steps, it does not mean that you are not a dancer. Sometimes it will just take a lot of practice and dedication. Remember that practice makes perfect if you are only willing to learn! Always stay motivated and inspired all the time. To be a good dancer, be yourself. Take a deep breath; feel the rhythm, the flow and the beat of the music and now you can take one, two and three steps. Just do it continuously and learn that from the expert: Me!
