World of Warcraft – Wetland Woolen Cloth Farming: A Waste of Time or a Worthwhile Effort?

I was recently looking for a way to grow woolen cloth that was effortless, thoughtless and took very little time.

As you know from my previous articles, I’ve been very successful in harvesting woolen cloth from instances, most notable palisades, and to some extent, kills. The problem, if you can call it that, is that farming cloth from those instances requires you to pay attention.

If you’re like me, you’ll probably use your level 70 character and mine the entire instance in 2 or 3 shots, which is fun and quick, but requires some focus. I know, the mobs in Stockades are only level 25 elites or so, but if you have 50 of them with you at the same time, even the most intrepid paladin will experience a fleeting moment of doubt… Need to pull that last room? I don’t want to die!…”

So I looked for another less stressful way to grow woolen cloth. After some searching, a certain place caught my eye: Mosshide Gnoll’s magical camps in the Wetlands. I can’t tell you exactly what it is, you’ll have to do some research, but basically the magic lies in its absolutely INSANE respawn rates.

Long story short, if you do this instance at the right level, around 23-23 and alone, you won’t be able to loot chests due to the constant attack, and you will most likely DIE from your problem.

Of course, a level 70 character of any class is more than enough to kill all the mobs with little to no thought, and you’ll be surprised at how many things you can loot from these little Moscos.

I took Mandorall, my woefully under-equipped paladin, and camped out in one of the camps for about 45 minutes. For the record, no healing was required at any point, and no mana regeneration beyond what occurs naturally.

Camp I is located just east of the main road north of Loch Modan. I started my agricultural career with:

  • About 50 empty bag slots
  • 305g 85s 00c

And 45 minutes later, it ended with:

A complete inventory

  • 1g 91s 67c in loot cash
  • Supplier garbage 1g 35s 25c
  • 8 green items
  • 147 wool cloth
  • 121 linen cloth
  • 19 silk cloth

I also collected 4 healing potions, 2 minor mana potions, and 1 blue drop, the “ring of defense”, which I greedily advertised on the auction house for 30g, though it’s actually only worth 10g.

The green items I collected are only worth about 1g 50s to the vendor, if that’s the case, but I think once disenchanted they should be worth 5 or 6 WoW Gold.

So the bottom line is: if you are looking for a quiet and stress-free place to grow woolen cloth, then one of the Magical Moshide camps in the Wetlands is the place for you. You’ll have to do some searching to find one, but it’s not really difficult, and in terms of woolen cloth farming, it’s a pretty good spot.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for agricultural “thrills,” stick with Stockades. Launching dozens of hapless Defias schlubs at the same time will calm the ego of your super-powerful one-man (or woman) army of destruction!
