You can’t experience Diablo 2 without trying Delirium at least once.

Delirium is a very interesting rune word, due to its unique power: a 1% chance to change the wearer to a level 50 bone fetish when hit. And what could be more interesting than that?

Requirements:

A rudder with 3 sockets

Runes: Lem + Ist + Io

Outcome:

Level Requirement: 51

1% chance to cast level 50 Delirium when hit (morph)

6% chance to cast Level 14 Mind Blast when hit

14% chance to cast Level 13 Terror when hit

11% chance to cast level 18 Confused on hit

+2TB All Skills

+261 Defense

+10TB of vitality

50% extra gold from monsters

25% more chance to get magic items

Level 17 attraction (60 charges)

1% chance to cast level 50 Delirium when hit

The Delirium runeword is the only runeword this mod grants.

Delirium is a spell, and when activated it will transform the wearer of the helm into a level 50 Bone Fetish for approximately 1 minute.

Bone Fetish are the small, fast undead found running underground in Act 3, who are greatly feared for the damage they can cause when they explode.

Fortunately, your character, as Bone Fetish, will not explode.

The downside of being a level 50 bone fetish is that you can’t cast spells, so it’s a huge penalty to casters (except the druid, who can still cast his Armageddon spell while in bone fetish form). The only attack you can do as a Bone Fetish is a melee attack: a headbutt. So this is not a huge drawback for melee characters.

Note: A druid can transform back from Bone Fetish form using the Werewolf or Werebear abilities.

6% chance to cast Level 14 Mind Blast when hit

14% chance to cast Level 13 Terror when hit

11% chance to cast level 18 Confused on hit

These mods can be triggered quite frequently, and when your enemies are incapacitated with Mind Blast, Terror, or Confuse, it helps because your character then: doesn’t get hit and your enemies aren’t as effective at killing you.

+2TB All Skills

Only 3 unique helms have this mod: Harlequin Crest, Nightmare’s Veil, and Andariel’s Face. Those helms, especially Harlequin Crest, are more appealing to players due to the higher mod utility they have.

However, if you don’t have any of them and still crave the +2 to all abilities, simply put on a Runeword Delirium helm.

25% more chance to get magic items

A nice bonus for your MF runs.

Resume:

The main reason players create this runeword on a helm is that they don’t have Harlequin Crest, Nightmare’s Veil, or Andariel’s Visage yet, but still want the +2 to all abilities that Delirium grants.

There are some players who find this runeword useful for the helm their mercenary uses, especially on an Act 2 mercenary with the Jab ability. This is due to the many potential Confusion, Mind Blast, and Terror triggers, which will definitely help the Mercenary stay alive for a longer period of time.
