Hangover remedies: work to get through the morning after

Will coffee make a person get up? How about taking a pain reliever before bed if you’ve been drinking? Will an injection of bitters ease a headache and an upset stomach? And the water? There are many theories that try to help us get rid of a hangover, but some do not work and others can be dangerous.

1) Coffee to be sober: Good theory, but wrong. The caffeine in coffee will make you more awake, but not sober. On top of that, it will add anxiety and nervousness to the mix.

two) A pain reliever before bedtime.: It will not help and may cause you considerable harm, especially if you choose something that contains acetominophen. The combination of alcohol and that pain reliever can cause permanent damage to your liver. Aspirin and alcohol can also cause stomach bleeding.

3) A shot of bitters: This product is actually a type of orange liqueur … basically more alcohol. This may help temporarily, but it really only postpones the inevitable. The hangover will come back later.

4) Water: Drinking water and sports drinks can help. Alcohol causes dehydration, which can lead to headaches and dry mouth associated with this problem. If you start the night before, you may be a little earlier the next morning. Have a glass of water or other non-alcoholic drink between beers, etc. It could also be beneficial.

5) Women have it worse than men: Up to a point, yes. Women are likely to get drunk faster and with less alcohol than men, due to the amount of water in the body. Men have more than women, so less is needed.

6) Wine will not cause this problem: One aspect of that headache feeling is the other components of your drink of choice. Red wine contains substances that can cause an allergic reaction, especially headaches. Colored drinks of any kind also contain components that cause problems. If you are going to drink and want the best chance to avoid pain, try beer or any clear drink, such as vodka.

7) Diet drinks do not count: Calories can be cut, but the chances of an unhappy morning not only persist, they can be worse. On the other hand, if you use a fruit juice or other sugar base, the intensity may decrease.

8) The order in which you consume it can prevent the problem.: Only if you reduce the total amount consumed. That’s the key, the less you drink, the less likely you are to have a hangover.

There are some herbal preparations and suggestions that can help you deal with this problem. As mentioned above, water and sports drinks are key. They will rehydrate and restore lost electrolytes. Avoid willow bark, as it can cause the same problems as aspirin.

A cool, damp cloth placed on the forehead can help reduce a headache. Licorice root and marshmallow root can help to fill the stomach and reduce nausea. If you’re not vomiting, peppermint tea might help. It doesn’t feel good to go back up, so don’t use it if you’re vomiting.
