One Day Potty Training with Dr. Phil

There are many methods of potty training; one worth considering is Dr. Phil’s technique. Start by getting an anatomically correct wrist. This will serve as an example for your child. This technique takes into account that your child, at this stage, has a desire to imitate adults, especially you as parents. You can use the doll to teach your child by modeling how to use the toilet.

Give the doll a name. Let your child name the model. Your child will consider the model as her best friend to follow. Offer him a drink. Shortly after drinking, have the doll walk to the potty. Pull down his big boy underwear. Let him use the potty. By presenting a different routine, she will be drawn to learn the whole process in a new light. And it’s easier for her to follow because of the visual representation of her.

After a successful use of the potty, help your child organize a party for the doll. With balloons, a cake, and wearing party hats, she shows him that success is a big deal. Praise the doll and let her child be envious of her. As you set up the party, let your toddler become familiar with the situation that he too will have a special potty party if he is successful.

So go ahead and start potty training. Throw out all diapers if you let your child feel like there is no backup plan for this. You will also get rid of the temptation to go back to wearing diapers. Then have your son wear new big boy underwear. Have her potty training buddy doll wear big boy underwear too.

Offering your child plenty of fluids maximizes your child’s chance of being successful on the potty. This will make her need to go more often. Offer him a drink regularly, say every hour, to encourage the greatest chance of success.

Every half hour remind your child to use the bathroom. If she forgot and got wet, don’t scold her, better help her practice. Walking to and sitting on the potty ten times will build muscle memory so that next time her body knows what to do.

When your child successfully completes potty training, it’s time for the promised potty party. Wear the party hats and take out the cake and balloons. Have a celebration of your achievement. Keep up the regular offers to use the bathroom and praise each successful attempt.

By following the Dr. Phil method, all children can be potty trained in just one day. As a parent, you need to be consistent and keep praising your child’s efforts. With the first success, you are approaching a child without diapers. As our children grow from babies to active toddlers without diapers, we will soon realize the joy of having no more diapers to change. So go ahead, try Dr. Phil’s method now.
